Erykah Badu

Erykah Badu transformed the stage into an intimate world of her own with a stripped-back setting. Performing barefoot on an all-white carpet that was surrounded by a large white couch and white beds, Badu created an atmosphere that felt deeply personal and intimate. The tour celebrated her latest album Before the World Blows, created with The Alchemist. The performance opened with her lying in an all-white bed, where the ringing telephone woke her. She rose to answer it, using the telephone itself as a microphone to perform “Echoes.” She brought new material, such as “I Just Play a Part,” into the set alongside some of her most beloved songs. She flawlessly performed beloved songs including “Didn’t Cha Know,” “Witch Doctor,” and “On & On,” reminding the audience why these hits have remained so timeless. Her beauty, powerful voice, and magnetic presence left an impression that lingered well beyond the final note.
